History of the Chem-Dry Brand
Robert Harris started working his way through law school in the 1970’s as a carpet cleaner working for a different carpet cleaning company. He quickly became unsatisfied with the performance of available cleaning products and began researching a better solution. Harris’ research stretched into many years of studying the chemical properties and reactions of a variety of cleaning formulas combined with experimentation that required him to continually clean carpets with a succession of cleaning formulations. The process was similar to how Edison tried a hundred times to build the perfect light bulb before he succeeded.
In his quest, Robert Harris ultimately found the perfect cleaning mixture. This unique carbonated solution not only offered supreme cleaning capabilities but also catered to one’s well-being. The inception of Chem-Dry by Harris led to an unprecedented surge in the demand for his superior cleaning services. His entrepreneurial voyage blossomed into a thriving triumph that has been scaling up since its early days in the 70s. Starting from a small group of franchise locations, the original Chem-Dry network has expanded vastly over the years, boasting thousands of successful franchises across the globe, including Apex Chem-Dry in Chambersburg, PA.

We started our business back in 2021. As lifelong residents of the Chambersburg area, we have always had a great love for the city and its residents. That’s a major reason why we decided to start the business so many years ago, and it has been our pleasure to serve our customers and handle their carpet and upholstery cleaning tasks.

We are a local carpet and upholstery cleaning company in Chambersburg. Unlike traditional steam carpet and upholstery cleaners, we use a carbonated cleaning process that dries faster while delivering effective results.
